The UN’s IPCC has claimed that Himalayan glaciers may well have all melted by 2035 because of Global Warming Climate Change. The source for that claim was an obscure Indian scientist who has admitted that the assertion is conjectural, and not based on any formal, peer reviewed research:
Hasnain has since admitted that the claim was “speculation” and was not supported by any formal research. If confirmed it would be one of the most serious failures yet seen in climate research. The IPCC was set up precisely to ensure that world leaders had the best possible scientific advice on climate change…
When finally published, the IPCC report did give its source as the WWF study but went further, suggesting the likelihood of the glaciers melting was “very high”. The IPCC defines this as having a probability of greater than 90%.
The report read: “Glaciers in the Himalaya are receding faster than in any other part of the world and, if the present rate continues, the likelihood of them disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high if the Earth keeps warming at the current rate.”
However, glaciologists find such figures inherently ludicrous, pointing out that most Himalayan glaciers are hundreds of feet thick and could not melt fast enough to vanish by 2035 unless there was a huge global temperature rise. The maximum rate of decline in thickness seen in glaciers at the moment is 2-3 feet a year and most are far lower.
They’re scientists, we should trust them.
And keep the money coming, because work like this? It doesn’t pay for itself.

“Bernice, them thar empruhs is plum nekkid as jaybirds.”
These people are all true believers. But so were the followers of Jim Jones who went to Jonestown. And so were the followers of David Koresh who went to Waco.
This particular group of believers would have us all go to poverty by destroying the economy in an effort to “fix” a problem that they can’t even prove exists.
Worse yet…they want us to off ourselves…so the Earth will still be around when the Sun goes all red giant on on our butt$….manifest destiny and all, sport.
Just another example of the shallowness of the whole global cooling no, warming, no, lets just call it change crowd. Everything is based on speculation, feelings, and models designed to support the thesis rather than to test it. Modeling for a worst case scenario and presenting that as fact.
This is all just a sidebar to the real goal – an all powerful one world government, and a stripping of wealth from the successful, industrial west to build up 3rd world countries in order to assuage the liberal white guilt of a few.
Joe
Boil the climate changers arguments and solutions down to their most basic statement, “the weather’s been weird recently, so give me all your money and complete control over your life” and its absurdity becomes especially clear.
Yep. Really, no different then the approach to any social problem. Guns, trans-fats, goose liver, whatever the cause of the month is. Although, the real goal is to put a small clique into total power, and level all nations at about the economic level of, oh, Rwanda.
Joe, one thing I can’t figure out, is that if you’re right, and it’s all a bait & switch to one-world government, why are so many politicians in so many countries OK with the goal? After all, they can’t all be the “dear leader” at the top. Why would they want to trade being big fish in their own little ponds for being little fish, only apparatchniks, in the big one? Do they all want to become “middle managers”?
Well, who would be paying out the most? Yep, the US. The EU will have exemptions up the wazzoo, and besides, they are 3/4 of the way there with the that Union. China will be exempt. African nations and Asian nations will pretty much be exempt from having to contribute. Who benefits? All the little have not nations. But, who isn’t for saving the cute little penguines and harp seal pups?

Green. It’s the new Red.
Old enough to remember the “next ice age” scares we got in the mid 70s as students in schools. The solution then was precisely what’s advocated now. Less industry, gigantic taxes for emissions, arbitrary and capricious laws governing environmental impact statements, construction and operating permits, etc. And, of course, redistribution of America’s wealth to what was then “Third World” countries whose plight in this ice age would be somehow worse than ours.
I think my favorite people are the folks who are against coal, oil, nuclear, and hydroelectric. We are going to power an industrialized society on wind and solar? Pick yourselves out a nice cave. That’s where we’re headed back to.

nope: Luddites on Steroids ‘r them…
I liked the WWF better when they were putting on Rasslin’ demonstrations. Since they got all uppity and environmental on us, after all; confusin’ good folk is all they been ‘complishin, since.
