"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier
"Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas
"Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex
Sounds like he was doing what came naturally
My daughters middle name .
Did the kid have his lisc? If not, give the kid a medal for his skilzz and send him to plt tng in the Marines (they’re always stea-um-liberating stuff.) Either that or let him work for one of Max Hardbergers repo outfits. (Saaayyy, doesn’t old max have a San Diego ofc? Was this a test of ingenuity? Who made the kid’s bail? Max? Max? You out there?)
(they’re always stea-um-liberating stuff.)
Cumshaw, Virgil. Cumshaw. It’s the 13th General Order: “To be extraordinarily resourceful, especially at night, and acquire such materiel as is required for the accomplishment of the mission.”
That’s how I learned it, anyway.
That wasn’t the one we learned in Boot. But that one is not printable here on a family blog with ladies present.
Saving the taxpayers money by putting to use otherwise unused equipment, Virg. No sense in letting perfectly good stuff just sit an corrode away. Or be polished/waxed/painted into uselessness by others.
Behavioral Health (?)
It strikes me that he’s OK (well on second thought, we are a nation of laws – right?). I’d like to know how (if) he paid for gas at PSP before joining the line to LAX.
Hey, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, that’s what’s wrong with me too. Is there some Obama $$ for a cure? Does anyone have the form to fill out?
Looking at FAFSA, I don’t see that one listed. Sorry…
Yeah, Dave, if you find the form, mail me one too–my wife–she of the M.A. in “abnormal psyche”–has been complaining for years….about the “abnormal” part, that is….
Livng with you I can understand where she is coming from
Maybe he has just been paying close attention to Lex’s flying lessons and travel adventure stories here, and was trying to imitate our host.
I’m thinking X-Plane just didn’t scratch his itch anymore.
Reminds me of an enlisted Marine who, um, purloined an A-4M from El Toro in the 70′s. Got him a meetin’ with the CO and a trip out the front gate. Being a glider pilot of some repute, it was rumored that he got hired by a corporation somewhere. That’s the scuttlebutt anyway…
Greetings:
Well, at least his parents didn’t name him Sky King. I don’t quite understand the Behavioral Health Court program referral. My father’s referral program was, “We’ll both go to the hospital; you to get your ass fixed and me to get my boot back.”
Sadly those days are pretty much long gone, 11B40. In today’s “progressive” society the ER Doc would probably call the cops–your Dad would be arrested for child abuse and you be removed from the family by Child Protection under Court order and placed in a Foster home. Ain’t progress wonderful?
Foster care would far worse than simply getting the boot dug out of your backside. I rescued two of my grandkids from Georgia’s version of state supported child kidnapping 4 years ago. They still haven’t gotten over it.
