Persian Cats

Interesting story about a group of young Iranians attempting to live their own version of the dream.

Rock ‘n roll style.

  • I went to school (Florida Tech, School of Aeronautics – class of 1981) with a few Iranians. At the time, they were in the U.S. on student visas. I found them to be warm, friendly, sophisticated and cultured. Shamard was in my core flight and ground school classes, my major course classes and was more than competent as an academic and aviator. I have not seen him or his family since graduation but wish him and his family well.

I think I mentioned here once before that I had two Iranians in my Plt tng class (days of the Shaw). They went back to fly F-4s. Often wondered what happened to them….was a long time and pre-Iraq-Iran war ago..

Fort Rucker was crawling with Iranians when I was in Flight School in ’76. I saw them everywhere I went. I ran into a coupla Israelis, but by far the largest foreign contingent was from Iran.

Am I the only one to wonder, why did the film show the band’s faces? And the article name them? When filming an illegal activity to showcase before the world as “art” the filmmaker used to have the decency to protect his actors.
