Maybe it's the Teleprompter

President Obama’s speech on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill has received nearly universal disapprobation, whether read between the lines in the New York Times, in the palpable absence of tingle in Chris Matthew’s leg, or whether it’s overseas commentors in China or Britain.

Having just viewed Governor Chris Christie’s latest speech in New Jersey, I can’t help but wonder.

Maybe it’s the teleprompter?

The best comment so far in the MSM has been in the LA Times (of all places) which likened the speech to a Harvard trained nurse discussing vacation in the ER while the patient bled out on the floor. LOL!!

      Virgil,

But they LA Times inserted a large picture of Gov Crist right up front in the article
      http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/06/obama-speech-react.html
which makes fun of him. So the leopard has not changed its spots. The Crist picture has no connection with the story, but they just couldn’t help themselves. It is the nature of the scorpion to sting.

You are a little onfused there Edward in the photo you reference that is Gov. Crist of Florida (current Independant candidate for Senate) not to be confused with Gov. Cristie of New Jersey.

I do like the background in the Gov. Crist photo however, Florida has some nice scenery.

    Christie for Prez 2012

I’ve been following him. Only honest politician I can think of. What a refreshing change from the current “leader.”

pablissimo … Yes, Christie is impressive and articulate, but for sheer guts in facing the thugs of the present administration, I suggest that Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is the current champ. He’s out there on the front lines, and when the Administration drags its feet, as it is prone to do, he says to them, “we’re going to do it anyway,” and calls on the Louisiana National Guard to start building sand berms to protect the Louisiana wetlands from further damage.

That’s leadership, pablissimo. And God bless him for it.

  • Palin/Christie or Palin/Jindal in 2012. Either one works for me.

AnnAlthouse’s place last night post Obama’s speech was full of people who couldn’t say enough sarcastic things. A couple of snarky gems: “I listened to the speech on radio, did he wear a cardigan?”

Another: “Jimmy Carter is breathing a huge sigh of relief knowing he’s no longer the dumbest fucking President………From now on Obama will be the dolt-stick by which all future Presidents are measured.”

    • Virgil,

That last comment is a knee slapper. Best comment I’ve seen all day. Thanks,

But the funniest comment was right up your alley, sunsunk. Rightly or wrongly Admiral Thad Allen is catching flack for the total lack of coordination of water-borne clean-up assets. A schoolteacher from N.O. said that a radio caller to one of the local talk shows said: “If Thad Allen had been an Admiral in WWII there’d still be German subs in Lake Pontchartrain!” LOL!!!

A breath of fresh air… “If not now, when?”

  • Sarge

Hey, but if we can put a man on the Moon… oh, wait; Obama just axed our ability to ever do that again, didn’t he?

    • Um, Sarge? Long story short; there’s a lot of folks who have endorsed Barry’s space initiatives, while they deplore the man. Try checking out Rand Simberg’s site Transterrestrial Musings.

I haven’t done the deep research myself, but Simberg seems to have a healthy back-up crew to support him, many of whom have little or no use for Obama.

Neil Armstrong isn’t one of them. Neither is Gene Cernan.

        • …And how long have Armstrong and Cernan been designing launch systems? Not to mention how long have they been out of the loop?

Short version: Constellation was way behind schedule and way over budget. Think of it as the NASA version of the LCS. ;)

  • Marianne Matthews

Yes, Sarge, we’ve got that nice space station orbiting up there, and soon will have no way to get to it.

Our overall excellence in space exploration is just another attribute of the former United States of America that must be disintegrated. The dialectic usually includes the planned destruction of all good attribute.

I think that the problem with Obama’s teleprompter lies in the interface between the teleprompter and the microphone. Christie seems to have resolved his interface problem.
