Moderation

Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi preaches on the Islamic doctrine of taysir, which translates to “ease” or moderation of the strictest interpretation of Koranic injunctions – especially for Muslims residing in Evropa or North America. In this he is joined by the Muslim Brotherhood’s Tariq Ramadan:

(He) recommends that a “moratorium” — a temporary ban — be placed on the Muslim practice of stoning adulterers to death; yet he refuses to say that stoning is intrinsically un-Islamic. This, of course, is taysir in practice: because stoning people in the West is liable to get the stoner incarcerated or worse, upholding the Sharia mandate to stone adulterers is “hard” on Muslims living in the West, so best to put it on hold — that is, till circumstances are more opportune.

Moderation – he keeps using that word. I do not think it means what he thinks it means.

Moderation = stones with rounded edges

It is more likely political taqiyya rather than taysir.

Sounds like Sheikh Yerbouti, to me.

As in “do the moderation?” Remember Little Eva singing “Do the Locomotive?” LOL.

upholding the Sharia mandate to stone adulterers is “hard” on Muslims living in the West

Not to mention pretty tough on the adulterers themselves, on presumes.

  • “Moderate Muslim”…..

Sort of like an innocent German in 1945.

Sigh. Once again, the Islamists play the tune the MSM wants to hear, vice what they intend to present onstage.

And here’s the kicker, Tim, attitudes don’t really change over time for a whole helluva lot of people. Half of the Germans my Dad’s age (aren’t all that many left by now) would STILL raise the right arm and salute with “Heil Hitler” if somehow he were to return reincarnated. See how long “moderate” Muslims stay “moderate” if given half a chance to gain political power.

      • You got THAT right, VX. There’s still quite of few who would welcome back that sort of government style in Germany today.

There’s quite a few who would welcome that sort of government in the US.

There seems to be a breed of man that’s uncomfortable without chains.

I think that used to be the case as late as the mid to late 80s. These days the guy would have to more like the red socialists than the the brown variety. Many of the adults, when I was in Germany in the 60s would certainly have gone for a Hitler type inspite of their booming economy at the time. Even so, Germany was a nice place in the 60s. Not so much now with the ascendancy of the socialists, which began with the Socialist victory in the 1969 elections.

Still, chains forged by anyone else wouldn’t matter. I will say that Germans under Hitler were far better off at the hands of their government than those under Stalin. Hitler was a rank amateur by comparison.

  • There’s a point in here I’ve been banging away at for years in the policy circles to which I belong, and it’s that most of the people making policy with respect to Islam and Middle Easterners don’t have a clue how they think. And, as some of us learned in Iraq and Afghanistan, the unintended consequences of ignorance in these matters are brutal.

A moderate Muslim is one who wants kill only Jews.

  • zippersuitdsungod

They will only preach moderation until they manage to establish their Western Caliphate. Then they can just go ahead and kill all us non-Muslim infidels because we were too stupid to defend ourselves before they had managed to infiltrate our very way of life.

Now, now, we can’t have profiling.

    • Quartermaster

Yeah! Zipper is one of those vile sexist, racist, homophobes. World’s worst person in history who simply doesn’t understand the impacts of colonialism on those poor Muslim wretches.

      Emphasis on the wretched part.

      • zippersuitdsungod

Hey!!! I am NOT vile. ROFLMAO

        • zippersuitdsungod

And as far as profiling goes. . . .I’m a big believer in the fact that you can shoot them head-on as easily as in profile!

        • Quartermaster

I’ll believe you aren’t vile if you will buy a bottle of Barbancourt 5 Star and deliver it to VX. For medicinal purposes of course. Consider it an act of mercy and compassion.

The you’ll only be a sexist, racist homophobe, but not vile.

          • zippersuitdsungod

I could never force such a vile concoction upon poor VX. In the spirit of protecting such an innocent as he, I shall drink the bottle myself. I guess you can add alcoholic to that list of my attributes. Ahhhh, the sacrifices I make for my brothers in arms.

Moderation is the enemy of a good drunk! xairboss 7/29/2010

Your neighbor, in a retro sort of way, Stonewall Jackson, was moderate in an immoderate sort of way.

  • This form of moderation reminds me how Stalin directed American communists in the 1930s to change their style, and emphasize just how much the Reds still loved the white & blue as well. Gosh darn it, we love this country, just like we love our mom, her apple pie, and baseball in summer!

This drivel lasted until Stalin concluded the West was nudging the Nazi crocodile to eat the Soviet Union first, whereupon he reversed course and out-appeased the appeasers.

  • Quartermaster

Taking Stalin as an allies had to be one of FDR’s and Churchill’s more stupid moves.

  • Maybe, and maybe not QM. It’s easy to monday-morning quarterback sixty years later when we know how things turned out.

Should Churchill, then, have refused aid to the Soviets in June 1941 after the German invasion? How would that have aided the Allied cause? Even ignoring Churchill’s famous remark that, “If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons,” wouldn’t allowing the Soviet Union to fall -or at least make peace with the Nazis- have strengthened the Axis, and made the invasion of Europe that much more difficult and bloody, if not impossible? What would have happened if Hitler had the resources available to him -absent an Eastern front bleeding him dry- to make all of northwest Europe as challenging as Omaha Beach?

True, we had the atomic bomb, and it was originally intended to be used against the Nazis. But what kind of Europe would result from Soviet surrender, and the nuclear annihilation of Germany?
