Trust Gap

Strategy Page on why the US will not export Predators to Pakistan:

The U.S. doesn’t want Pakistan to have Predator/Hellfire partly to keep the technology away from China, partly to keep the systems from being used to kill tribal leaders the U.S. does not consider hostile. The U.S. also fears Pakistan would use Predators against India. Above all, these UAVs are in big demand by American and NATO forces, who have priority.

The Pakistanis are also prone to corruption, and giving them missile armed Predators would encourage Taliban and tribal leaders to offer money, or cooperation, to avoid a Hellfire missile. You can’t bribe the Americans, which is what really annoys many Pakistanis. What also annoys Pakistanis is the Americans constantly pointing out that Islamic terrorists are killing far more Pakistanis than the Indian armed forces, and the two countries have not fought a war for over 30 years. Yet Pakistan still keeps most of its security forces aimed at India, while India pays more attention to the Chinese threat.

Wouldn’t want anybody to get annoyed…

You mean to tell me that someone was seriously tasked to come up with reasons / excuses for why we do not wish to share this technology with the PAKS? The easy response to the PAKS should have been: “you’re not really serious, are you?” followed by laughing.

Let’s see, my list of reasons: (1) The PAK security services support barely literate, socially-stone-age people who are killing Americans and are otherwise in most ways international outlaws; (2) PAK can’t be trusted to not attack its neighbor, India; (3) your country is a mess, and (3) your people are whacked out Muslims.

    Pakistan has Ku bandwidth?

The recent attacks on FOB Chapman and Salerno by TALIBAN wearing US Army Uniforms should be all the reason anyone with common sense needs to understand why we should not share our Drone Technology. They got those uniforms from Black Market or AFGHN/Pakistan Allies.

The PAKS need to clean house and get with the program. Their fondness for playing both sides toward the middle along with allowing the charade to continue is also highly unaceptable.

    Greetings:

The way things are going in Pakistan these days, I hope someone is working on a torpedo drone.

Interesting, the unarmed Predator B will patrol the border, makes you wonder how soon Hellfires will be carried?

Color me impressed. Someone in the federal executive has ‘common sense’, which according to Gov. Christie is in such short supply?
