Problem Solved

A solution has finally been found to the vexing issue of Muammar Gaddafi’s tyrannical and murderous reign in Libya:

The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.

The court had accused him of crimes against humanity and of ordering attacks on civilians after an uprising against him began in mid-February.

The Hague-based court also issued warrants for two of Col Gaddafi’s top aides – his son Saif al-Islam and intelligence chief Abdullah al-Sanussi…

The arrest warrants refer to early weeks of the uprising, from 15 February until “at least 28 February”.

The statement, read out by presiding judge Sanji Monageng, said there were “reasonable grounds to believe” that the three men were “criminally responsible” for the murder and persecution of civilians.

The ICC is on the job and NATO can return to barracks.

Bully.

  • NATO is still needed-to attach a pair of handcuffs to a JDAM. Then they can claim that he was killed while we trying to detain him and bring him to justice.

And what about Assad and “I’m onajihad” Ahmadinejad?

What exactly has the ICC done in any situation that has affected events in any fashion whatsoever?

Let slip the dogs of lawfare!

I bet the Libyan dictator is REALLY scared now!

Why don’t they issue arrest warrants for Assad, the guy in Burma, the guy in Iran, and Mugabe?

of ordering attacks on civilians after an uprising against him began in mid-February.

If anyone other than pundits and HuffPo cared about the ICC that could set an interesting precedent. One of the things governments do is to order attacks against civilians who are in armed insurrection. Goes with the territory, ya know?

Face-palm/slap-my-face time. Why didn’t I think of that? More lawyers–yes, John, THAT’S the solution alright! I just haven’t been watching enough episodes of JAG….I should have known..

  • I concerned that the ICC has acted in such a precipitous and recklessly aggressive manner. Did they not even consider a strongly worded letter?

  • Mike Myers

Well I would have dropped a “y” and added a four letter word to your last sentence Lex. But I suppose old Colonel Moammar Q-K-Daffy Duck will now show up at the Hague and meekly present his wrists for the “bracelets”. I mean after all the ICC has spoken and must be obeyed. And will all due respect a decree from a fellow named Sanji Monageng must be a real knee slapper down there in Tripoli.

I have been looking hi and lo along the corniche in Abu Dhabi from early in the morning until late at night with time off to sweep the rooftop hotel pools. An IMF criminal is bound to turn up here sometime and I shall be here waiting!

Arrest \Ar*rest”\, noun [OE. arest, arrest, OF. arest, F. arr[^e]t, fr. arester. See {Arrest}, verb (used with an object), {Arr?t}.]

    1. The act of stopping, or restraining from further motion, etc.; stoppage; hindrance; restraint; as, an arrest of development.

So, blowing him to smithereens would qualify, yes? Once all the parts landed, & stopped jiggling?

No Sarge! NOOOOO! You warmongers are always wanting to bomb someone to pieces. Civilized people arrest them, give them a fair trial and fine hanging.

Now, I’m going over to XBRADTC’s place for my daily dose of ‘splodey.
