Priceless video from the OWS set.
Update: George Will thinks we should give thanks (via the Prof):
The Tea Party’s splendid successes, which have altered the nation’s political vocabulary and agenda, have inspired a countermovement — Occupy Wall Street. Conservatives should rejoice and wish for it long life, abundant publicity and sufficient organization to endorse congressional candidates deemed worthy. All Democrats eager for OWS’ imprimatur, step forward.
In scale, OWS’ demonstrations-cum-encampments are to Tea Party events as Pittsburg, Kan., is to Pittsburgh, Pa. So far, probably fewer people have participated in all of them combined than attended just one Tea Party rally, that of Sept. 12, 2009, on the Washington Mall. In comportment, OWS is to the Tea Party as Lady Gaga is to Lord Chesterfield: Blocking the Brooklyn Bridge was not persuasion modeled on Tea Party tactics.

Young Johnny Numb-nuts and his fellow miscreants are getting a treat from Mother Nature as it has been pouring all last night and today across most of the Northeast….
Poetic as for most, it is the first bath they have taken in quite a while and fitting as these slackers are all wet…..It would be nice if someone paid my mortgage for me but ” reality ” is a rather persistent feature to those of us in the real world.
I’ve been applying for jobs and making efforts to get things going, including seeking another round of employment back in AFGHN….whatever it takes.
Here’s hoping the elements flush out some of these idjits back to their Parent’s basements.
Be sure to click on the “hip-deep-in-the-tank” link as well for a view of an equally classic idiot “I’m one of you!” reporters..
I know how he can get his college tuition paid…
I know how the poor souls with college loan payments can get their loans paid off… The Army has a Student Loan repayment program, give them four years and they will pay them off. That’s how I paid back mine (but you are on the hook for the tax).
With a college degree and a high GT score you might actually be useful to someone in the Army. And you might actually learn something useful as well.
Four years of active service (and four years of Guard) has been far more valuable to my education than my four years at “midwestern liberal arts college”.
But of course I doubt any of the crowd could make the cut.
I’ve been thinking about this social contract they’ve been yammering about. How if you benefit from our society you are obligated to give back. So I was wondering, if the bus to basic training were to roll up Wall Street ( or any of the other streets), how many of those social contract devotees do you think would get on the bus?
“I’m just putting it out there…”
I can articulate more legitimate, sound, socially-supportive reasons why he should be blasted in the jimmies by a bolt of thou-shalt-not-breed heavenly lightning, than he can provide for his demands.
+ 1 and more
Living in the liberal wasteland that is New England it is pretty obvious that most of my friends would be of the liberal persuasion.
One of them in particular hails originally from NYC and she has never lost her extreme views. To wit: yesterday the subject came up about the OWS protestors. Naturally she sympathizes with them and their issues. When I pointed out that what I have seen shows me that they just want something for nothing – her only comment was “well that’s what the right-wing news wants you to believe it is, an anti-capitalism situation – and it’s not”. She said she hadn’t seen any of the many posters of the OWS people saying give me this, or that or the other thing for free. And because she hadn’t seen them, they didn’t exist.
I love this woman, she is a good person and a good friend. And it was hard to continue the conversation with her without just punching her.
The whole OWS-thing is about socialism but you can’t tell that to someone who lives happily on the pap spoonfed to them by the MSM. If you have a contrary opinion you are not well-informed and you only read right-wing news. At least that’s what I’ve been told.
sigh … I gotta move.
Kinda reminds of this strip from “Day by Day.”

Sometimes you want to grab them, shake them, all the while screaming at them to wake up while you wait for the ambulance to take them off so they can get treatment for the drug overdose.
Kris & Quartermaster I agree with that POV 100%
Kris -I disagree….we have to wake people up in our neck of the woods…..Sen. Scott Brown was the start and a recent election of a GOP REP for my home town district in the Massachusetts House shows that the populace is just as sick & tired of the horseshite as we are…
Stand your ground & fight…..This area of the USA was where Liberty was born. These colors don’t run.
SK1 – I did, at least in this particular instance, stand my ground and try to bring more truth to what my friend believes she knows. It’s just – exhausting. And I know I won’t get thru to someone like this particular friend; a more dyed-in-the-wool liberal you will never meet.
I memorably stood my ground a few years ago in a conversation with a friend; we didn’t speak for 3 years afterwards.
I hear what you are saying; and it’s exhausting SK. I’ve come to the conclusion that, trapped in this liberal wasteland, I don’t talk politics with my live-friends. I talk with my cyber-friends.
And we are here for you -always. No worries…..
Good humored (gentle) ridicule works very well for died in the wool types. They may not respond initially to logic…
Just wondering, is the good ole USA at the SNAFU stage? Or have we moved all the way to FUBAR?
My gut feeling is that we’re teetering over into FUBAR, if not already there.
I think we are well into the FUBAR stage.
What is the next step after FUBAR?
JACFU – joint Administration/Congress “Foul” Up?
The next stage is BOHICA (Bend Over, Here It Comes Again ) – looks like webhave been at that stage for quite some time.
SK1,
I should’ve thought of that one. And I have 3 kids who are SWOs! One of their “favorite” terms.
P.S. Good luck with the job search!
Thanks Old AF Sarge…..got some help from good friends…..I’m on it….just a matter of getting the info into the hands of the right people…..
What’s next after FUBAR, you ask, Joe? It’s FUBB–FU “Beyond Belief” Can’t possibly get any more screwed up then that! At DaNang down at I-DASC at I-Corps HQ, the sign hanging on the wall behind the FIDO (fighter duty officers) duty desk said: “FUBB Control” LOL.
Joe, after FUBAR is SCOAMF. Google it.
Ah! Another word for “Obama!”
SLRP (Student Loan Repayment Program) is usually 10k to 20k. That’s maybe half a year’s worth of loans to some of these people.
A restructuring of the financial aid system seems called for – and the next VISA/MC salesman who shows up on campus should be strung up by his privates.
We need to be teaching our kids economics. Both the formal and home varieties. If you cannot bake a loaf of bread, sew on a button, or do simple cost-benefit analysis you have no business calling yourself an adult.
Yep. I was very lucky – my Consumer Ec teacher loathed credit cards and was very happy to discourse on their evils at length.
It was quite a few years before I got one.

An aside – Eyebrow Sculpting?

Do we laugh or cry?
I think only women with PMS or Menopause can do that at the same time…lol
BTW Great links!
It,s scary that todays youth want everything on a silver platter,,no I correct my self they want the good life handed to them on a silver plater and they don’t care who will get hurt in the process, ie the small business that powers our economy… I weep for the future.
btw I hope that this obsessions “With whats in it for me” will be a passing footnote in American history. But for that to happen I feel that this country will have to ender pain that has never before seen since the “Great Depression” were those that had a bacon grease sandwich where thankful.
Also the people here and our most gracious host are a great bunch of people and I am happy to be here.
The “Waht’s in it for me” syndrome is a function of the human condition in children. Good parents train that out of their kids.
Need I say more?
All we really need are 84 hours per person.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAOrT0OcHh0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Make it 6 or 12 months out in the woods,
meh thinks 84 hours is not long enough. No communication of any kind, no modern medicine, you get the drift. No intervention of any kind.
I would like to see a Harvard do a social experiment on that.
I think you’re missing the point. 3 days is long enough, while not being dangerous, to make anyone seriously uncomfortable unless they do work. Thus teaching the lesson that comfort only comes from effort. If you’re not making that effort that means someone else is, and you need to pay them for that.
With all due respect, I did not miss the point. And my point is, that most people will revert back to their ways with in a short amount of time.
Morals and values are ingrained in us at any early age and it will take longer the 84 hours for some on to change their POV.
It’s a cynical POV, and I know it. Its they way I am.
