Acts of God

Tehran is in deep, public denial over implications that its nuclear program is being deliberately sabotaged:

On Monday, Isfahan residents reported a blast that shook tower blocks in the city at about 2.40pm and seeing a cloud of smoke rising over the nuclear facility on the edge of the city.

“This caused damage to the facilities in Isfahan, particularly to the elements we believe were involved in storage of raw materials,” said one military intelligence source.

He would not confirm or deny Israel’s involvement in the blast, instead saying that there were “many different parties looking to sabotage, stop or coerce Iran into stopping its nuclear weapons program”.

Iran went into frantic denial yesterday as news of the explosion at Isfahan emerged. Alireza Zaker-Isfahani, the city’s governor, claimed that the blast had been caused by a military exercise in the area but state-owned agencies in Tehran soon removed this story and issued a government denial that any explosion had taken place at all.

On Monday, Dan Meridor. the Israeli Intelligence Minister, said: “There are countries who impose economic sanctions and there are countries who act in other ways in dealing with the Iranian nuclear threat.”

Major-General Giora Eiland, Israel’s former director of national security, told Israel’s army radio that the Isfahan blast was no accident. “There aren’t many coincidences, and when there are so many events there is probably some sort of guiding hand, though perhaps it’s the hand of God,” he said.

Yes, perhaps.

God usually uses the tools He put here on Earth.

    Kind of like the joke:

A Marine was attending a college course between
missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. The professor, an
avowed atheist, shocked the class one day when he
walked in, looked toward the ceiling, and said loudly,
“God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off
this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.”

The lecture room fell silent and the professor began
his lecture. Ten minutes went by and the professor
proclaimed, “Here I am God – still waiting.”

It got down to the last minute when the Marine stood
up, walked toward the professor and threw his best
punch knocking him off the platform and
    out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat down.
The other students were shocked and stunned and sat
there looking on in silence. The professor came to,
noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked,
What is the matter with you? Why did you do that?”
The Marine calmly replied, “God is busy today
protecting America’s soldiers who are protecting your
right to behave like an idiot, so
    He sent me.”

Not that ANY Marine would EVER do something like that. It would be illegal and he would be charged with assault and battery, and that would dishonor the Corps. ;-)

Turns out there are some higher order terms in Einstein’s General Relativity that cause gravity to go wonky (technical term) around pissed off Marines. This causes people to fall down a lot, usually with painful consequences.

        And unusual facial bruises?

It’s certainly not Quantum Mechanics as there is nothing random about the reaction of POed Marines. Nor is there anything in the uncertainty principle that would explain it as we know there is no uncertainty with POed Marines.

And, I agree that God most likely sent the Marine to take care of the silly prof. He was also merciful in that a bolt of lightening wasn’t sent to do the job. It wasn’t the Prof God was having mercy on either, but the others in the lecture hall.

Although God, being God, could have zapped the guy without any other casualties. However, I’m sure God agrees with the saying “if you won’t be a good example, you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.” But,as I said, God was being merciful.

      A Deck LDO now……

  • Oh, yeah: “God’s ways are not our ways” and “God works in strange and mysterious ways” come to mind from the Book…..

Does anybody else find the timing of this explosion in Iran with the storming of the UK embassy to be highly coincidental? I know the story above implicates Israel, but wondering if the Iranians thought the UK was involved.

My assumption is that the Israelis don’t maintain an embassy in Tehran…so storming that was out.

The Brits received the fury of the ‘students” due to the severe banking restrictions imposed – far stronger than the Obamaminator wanted. Imagine that – a sanction with teeth.

      Brett,

Years ago my wife had a senior supervisor at a respected company (which shall remain nameless) who let her know that Iranians believed that the British MI5 ran everything, pulling the puppet strings on MOSSAD and the CIA.

Paranoia runs very deep in the ME. All troubles are blamed on the other.

It’s very important to ground one’s self before touching any device sensitive to emf.

“On Monday, Dan Meridor. the Israeli Intelligence Minister, said: “There are countries who impose economic sanctions and there are countries who act in other ways in dealing with the Iranian nuclear threat.””

    Hmmmmm……

I would say something cute, but it’s just too damn obvious.

  • Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

It seems to me that the Israelis prefer leave the door open to letting people think they were the prime actor even if they weren’t. It’s not like anyone would believe their denials, so why not embrace the role? It probably obfuscates the real source more than if they denied it.

Get ‘em all stirred up so the big turbans have a meet. Decapitate.

Someone decided the best way to change things is to come at ‘em sideways. Can’t wait to read the book in 50-60 years…

Isn’t there a maxim about never attributing to conspiracy that which can be explained by simple incompetence?

    1 = fluke; 2= coincidence…. 3 = someone don’t like you much, Ahmed.

      quotation appears in Robert A. Heinlein’s 1941 short story “Logic of Empire” (“You have attributed conditions to villainy that simply result from stupidity”);

Also known as Hanlon’s razor….a number of people has said similar things.

Someone wrote a book on this very thing. I had to google it, because I couldn’t remember. Protect and Defend by Vince Flynn.

Now there is retired Israeli General saying it wasn’t
an accident.Could be then again maybe not, but a little
psyops never hurts, either, driving the Iranians crazy and it’s a short drive…
Still say from that missile plant photo it was something from above…
