Sami Osmakac, a naturalized US citizen who was born in Kosovo, on living the good life, American-style:
Osmakac, from Pinellas County, allegedly told an undercover agent that “We all have to die, so why not die the Islamic way?’” according to a federal complaint.
A lethal melange of car bombs, explosive vests and AK-47s was Osmakac’s interpretation of “the Islamic way”, and who am I to doubt him?
(I don’t want to judge before all of the facts are in, but it at least appears that the naturalization process didn’t quite hit all the high points of citizenship, in this case.)
Kosovo, many of you will remember, was a largely Muslim enclave within the former Yugoslavian Republic which was essentially saved from ethnic cleansing by a US-led NATO intervention.
So, there’s gratitude for you, twice served.

Maybe “Sami” can become shorthand for Muslim gratitude.

U.S. citizens have generally been entitled to venerate their personal visions of an afterlife.
If this dude want his 72 virgins so badly that he will martyr himself, Homeland Security has been placing way too much reliance on airport close-quarter body inspections of grandmas and kiddies.
Ya think?
Kosovo? Long time ago…heard a song about it…

Timing is everything; we are flying to Tampa this Saturday for a week-long vacation in Clearwater Beach. Makes me think we should look into taking some firearms with us. We have the necessary reciprocal permits. I wonder how hard it would be at the last minute…
I’m just down the street, Kris….literally, from your vacation spot, with my own Gulf view. Been quiet here…no martial law, no SWAT armored vehicles rolling in between traffic lanes.
I travel w/ firearms all the time. Very easy. Get a hard carrying case with locks. Pack weapon in box, pack box in luggage (unlocked), check in, say “I have a firearm in my luggage.” They will inspect or not, but you will sign a card saying it is unloaded, place it in the box, lock the box, place in luggage and send to TSA. Tampa escorts you to the TSA guys, they run it through, give you a thumbs up and you go to your gate. Different air terminals have different variations on that theme. Ammo can be packed in the same box, it just needs to be in its original box. All in all, the planning is simple.
xformed: this is good to know, especially in like of a double homicide in Tampa earlier today. What the heck is going on down there?
LT B: We looked at the rules last night and it is pretty simple. We have the necessary hard case for the guns, so that’s no problem either. We may well do this…
especially in like of a double homicide in Tampa earlier today.
That should be “…in light of…”
Preview is my friend.
If you have good lockable cases, just declare and check them in. Oh, and insure them.
Greetings:
Muslim gratitude is like a Missouri-Warhol River; a verbal mile wide, an actual inch deep, and flowing for about 15 minutes.
Obama and Holder have a word for guys like Sami Osmakac.
“Moderate.”
If there are more people like this guy who want to die “the Islamic way” I’m sure we can work something out. Ship them out to Fallon and hit ‘em with a drone strike.
LT B;
how’s the weax? nice here. will hoist a cup of coffee with the guys for u Saturday am.
Another “terrorist plot” where all the plotters save one are FBI informants or undercover agents… Given ATF’s and DEA’s recent snafus, I’m a bit skeptical. Not that terrorists are out there, just about the government’s ability to catch them.

Not sure if this was intentional, but both links go to the Wikipedia entry on the Kosovo War.
