Something of a unique problem, in Afghanistan:
Two boys equipped with suicide vests were arrested here over the weekend, less than a year after one of them had been pardoned by President Hamid Karzai for the same crime, and presented to reporters on Sunday.
The boys, named Nasibullah and Azizullah, were described by officials from the National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan’s intelligence agency, as 12-year-olds who had been trained in Pakistani madrasas. The officials refused to give their names for security reasons.
Both boys appeared calm and outspoken at the news conference, and it was unclear if they understood the gravity of what it would mean to carry out suicide bombings.
Azizullah said he went to a madrasa in Quetta. The teachers told him, “ ‘You won’t be hurt; just go and carry out a suicide attack,’ ” he said.

“The last time I was arrested by officials, I was sent to Kabul and I was brought before President Karzai,” Nasibullah said at Sunday’s news conference. “Mr. Karzai asked me what had happened. I explained that the Taliban wanted me to carry out a suicide attack and they put a vest on me and said ‘you can carry out a suicide attack,’ but I was arrested by policemen. Karzai told me, ‘Don’t worry son, we will send you back home,’ and so he pardoned me.”
Nasibullah, who officials from the intelligence directorate said was originally from Pishin in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan, said he was hoping for a second reprieve. “I am again arrested by officials and now again I am requesting from the government to forgive me,” he said. “This time I won’t go back to the madrasa.”
It’s really hard to get inside the head of religious “teachers” who try to send 12-year olds off to slaughter. Perhaps Nasibullah ought to go back to the madrasa, and ask his teachers why they don’t go themselves, or send their own children, if it’s a suicide bombing they want.

Well. Strap them back into modified bomb vests and escort them back to the Madrassa to be detonated where they were trained…obviously they don’t have long-term prospects if they’ve done the same thing twice.
indeed, “pour encourager les autres” so to speak, a life demonstration…
One thing’s for sure, they’ll never do it again
I have read “A Thousand Splendid Suns” and “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini. Good reading even if they don’t cover the madrasa mindset. That ignorants can be led by teachers to do what they are told without knowing if it is right or wrong is chilling. There is no moral dilema for either student suicider or teacher. Our version of right and wrong is lost amongst these tribes.
For those who don’t believe that evil exists in this world I would point this out to them. These “schools” are the embodiment of evil. Having said that, I don’t know how we combat this kind of thinking. Throwing money at it hasn’t worked, sending in missionaries only gets good people killed, and world opinion makes nary a scratch on the surface.
I got nuthin’…
Same issue I dealt with while in AFGHN when the Taliban hung a 7 year old child in Kandahar as a spy. As reported in June 2010 -
” The Taliban in Afghanistan hanged a seven-year-old boy after accusing him of being a spy.
The London Daily Mail reported the Taliban took the child from his home in Helmand province, and then put him on trial.
The terrorist group found him guilty of spying for U.S. and NATO forces. They then publicly hanged the young boy.”
What can we do ?? Well we should hunt these bastards down and take them out. They are not following their faith as they are Narco-terrorists. The sooner we elminate them from God’s green Earth, the better off we will all be.
It is similar to the Nazis – They seemed like they would be here forever but we got rid of them. It takes a huge effort but it can be done.
Don’t forget – the current occupant of the Oval Office and his valiant Secretary of State believe that we should negotiate with these monsters. Words fail.
I was reading the other day about the “Avenging Angels,” and the “Dananites” of the Mormon Church circa late 1800′s. I’ve a few Mormon relatives and can’t say how much I read is truth and how much fiction; they apparently don’t study this sort of thing in Sunday services and have little to add. What I’ve read seems mostly stories along the lines of what one would read about Billy the Kid or Bill Hickock.
Still, the idea has some merit. If a member of your church gets all wigged-out and starts hanging kids, it’s probably not a bad idea for members of your church to approach said lost soul and perform the “laying on of hands” ritual in a much more literal manner than that prescribed in the gospels. Why they will don suicide vests to kill infidels and *not* send their own, or police their own, or even lift a finger to fight this fight themselves is, to me, one of the greatest mysteries of Islam.
I’m fast coming to the point that I don’t even want to understand it, I just want to have nothing to do with it.

Not to make light of the murder of the child, but we’re talking about a culture that accused a shark of being a Mossad agent…
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/egypt/8185915/Shark-sent-to-Egypt-by-Mossad.html
and arrested a vulture in Saudi Arabia for being an Israeli spy.

The teachers told him, “ ‘You won’t be hurt; just go and carry out a suicide attack,’
Then Azizullah should ask his “teachers” why they don’t go if they won’t be hurt.
It’s not the children who need to be dealt with; it’s the madrasas in a country that is supposedly an ally. As the saying goes, with friends like these who needs enemies.
Cuz we have plenty of those to go around and around and around.
If Azizullah asked his teachers why he wouldn’t get hurt I can tell you what they’d say. That if Allah wills that he is not hurt, he won’t be hurt. If Allah wills that he should be hurt, he will be hurt.
If you look at the number of Muslims who’ve received Nobel prizes for science you will find exactly two. A Pakistani who fled to Europe to do his Nobel prize winning work in physics, and a naturalized Egyptian-American in chemistry. The Pakistani’s case is interesting (not just because Azizullah and Nasibullah’s madrasa is located in that country) because he belonged to a Muslim sect that accepted western science. He fled because the Pakistani parliament declared his sect heretical for precisely that reason. The idea that there are fixed physical laws on Earth or in the universe is heretical because it is seen as denying the idea that Allah can do whatever he likes whenever he likes.
Remember, the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram’s name means “Western learning is forbidden” in the Hausa language. Rote memorization of the Koran is the highest learning (as an aside, this is just one of the reasons I found Pres. Obama’s pandering Cairo speech so nauseating; that and the historical illiteracy he displayed for the world).
SteveC has the solution.
Yup
Save the child who has been brainwashed…..send a Hellfire missile through the window of the Madrassa once we have established the teachers are there and the children have left. That would send the right message to these bastards.
Save them how, I wonder?
By the age of 12 their concepts of right and wrong are firmly established and virtually impossible to change, if I remember my childhood development classes correctly.
problem is there is no “saving” the kid except by a frontal lobotomy. They’ve been so thoroughly brainwashed they really believe this is what they must do, that they won’t die, that everyone who’s not in their little group of associates is posessed by the devil and must die, that they’ll be granted eternal bliss if only they do what they’re told by their immans.
The sun rises in the east daily. This is firmly established fact, for Allah wills it. If it ever stops rising, it will be because Allah has so willed. Thus it is so, that Allah would protect the 12-year-old. Unless he willed otherwise. Turns out, he seems to always will otherwise.
Is there *any* hope of rehabilitating this culture? Any at all? I fear not. I truly do.
Sigh
Short of Christ’s return? Not a snowball’s chance in hell.
I wish someone with some ‘ball$” would call this administrations “Catch and Release” policy on Terrorists!
The ones let go from GITMO just went back twice as determined to take us on!
If my memory serves me well this is how “the shores of Tripoli” was added to the Marine Corps Hymn!
