When it is politically correct to be politically correct…I reckon

  • Paul L. Quandt

So when is that anti-American, communist piece of dung going to apologize to the American people.

Sometimes, their religeon is the only excuse they can come up with.

A real LEADER ( something our country lacks ) would have issued a statement like this:

” While the destruction of Qurans is regretful, the opportunistic manner which protests are formented shows that there exists a double standard in Afghanistan. On a routine basis, we have witnessed schools and other buildings being attacked by the Taliban.

In the course of these attacks, numerous copies of the Quran have been burned, including a Girls School in Mazr-i-Sharif where the teacher stated to the media that over 40 copies of the Quran were in her school building burned by the Taliban.

Until we see that the people & government of Afghanistan treats the destruction of the Quran by the Taliban with as much moral outrage as we have seen this week, we cannot take the protests or outrage seriously. It is obvious that the protests are done for purely political purposes.

We will continue to work with the Government of Afghanistan going forward to build a nation all their citizens can be proud of and one that demonstrates all citizens can live in freedom. We stand ready to discuss the issues of this week in a sense of diplomacy and understanding of our differences.”

THIS is the type of statement one would expect from the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES.

What we wind up with is the pathetic uttterings of the “Village Idiot from Chicago”. Our enemies smell his ineptitude and he continues to serve as a complete embarrassment to all true American Patriots.

      Amen, brother.

    • Leland

Thanks SK1 for proving it is not that hard.

I appreciate your responses to my contribution.

Our friends in the UK stand side by side with us in Afghanistan. I have been there in Helmand with them and have a keen appreciation for their insight & wit.

In response to Leland and my esteemed colleague from the great state of NY ” Daryle La Monica “, and in a direct challenge to the lackwit in the Oval Office, I present the much quoted words of Sir Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear,

” How hard can it be ??”

Say it SK1. I would also tell that idiot ingrate Karzai that we sent him the best people in our country, and now we are taking them home. We will be leaving him and his loved ones to the tender mercies of the Taliban, Al Qaeda, the Haqqani’s and the ISI. He can see if he can get any of those 7th century boy lovers to apologize for anything. Oh, and if any of their social pathologies get exported outside of their borders, we will deal with that with extreme prejudice, at its source.

I find your ideas intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Well said, SK1. Leadership is a forgotten trait in our country, it’s sorely missed.

How far will this unravel? August,1939…

    • Ron Snyder

I do believe that we have passed 1933 -in a geopolitical sense. Anything can happen, and something quite unpleasant probably will.

  • Marianne Matthews

I agree with Charles Krauthammer, who pointed out on Fox News the other night that the apology issued by Mr. Obama was both overwrought and fawning. It really wasn’t his job to apologize in the first place, for destroying some books in which secret messages were being smuggled. If he felt desperate to show off [and we're all pretty tired of his incessant camera hogging] a simple apology along the lines this talented young woman pointed out [I'm sorry that your folks decided to use your Holy Book to pass secret messages, making it necessary for us to destroy them.] The proper person to apologize was not our President, foolish as he is. It was the commander of the operation who should have done so. Once. No replays.

One of these days, someone in the mainstream media is going to get tired of our Commander in Chief sucking up to violent dictators, and gently point out that civilized folks don’t get more violent and primitive when apologized to. They say something along the lines of “I accept your apology.”

Maybe they’ll learn how to do this … in another two hundred years, or so. Or maybe not.

    Marianne

    • Curtis

      Marianne,

I agree with you. Should have used the words, “too bad you made it necessary” vice, “I’m sorry.”

Should have gone with “they weren’t destroyed by us; they were towed outside the environment.” Then dump them far out at sea or on an ice flow.

100,000 years from now we’d have militant muslim penguins sweeping the earth in a jihad.

  • Douglas

The young lady’s video was impressive. We could use more like her.

  • Rob

I stand for the concept anyone in the US can be of any religion – any organized religion and some down right weird ones, if its legal and any no-religion philosophies as well… However, I am sorry that we are talking about a religion that demands absolutely everything from others and basically nothing from itelf. Truely it is a great faith, but in its day, it was designed for a never ending conflict and it lives on that way. Tolerance wains in a world that strives for and longs for, just a little peace. I guess when God wants to truly punish humans he indeed gives them exactly what they ask for. Personally, I dont believe he likes doing it at all because he knows whats going to happen.

  • All I have to say, is what Lurch used to say.

  • Scott

Funny, I missed the apologies for these acts.

The maintenance of good will, which apologies are a part of, require a shared, equal dedication. When one side is unrepentant, and the other is obsequious, then you don’t have a relationship. You have slavery, and I’m not interested in that.

  • Mike M. (of the UAVs)

And she never raised her voice. Beautiful!

  • Mike M. (of the UAVs)

I’ll admit that my apology would have run along the lines of, “I apologize that the United States did not promptly administer the just punishment that Afghanistan deserved for harboring the terrorists who committed the greatest terrorist attack in American history. However, the United States will make amends. As I speak, two Trident II missiles are being launched against Afghan targets. Good riddance.”

  • SteveC

I have a tough time squaring the picture of Karzai painted in “The Only Thing Worth Dying For” by Eric Blehm & co., particlarly given the sacrifice made by the Spec Ops team he was with, and the guy presently in charge of that cesspool. One would think that Karzai would be just a bit more respectful of what this country has done to straighten his country out BECAUSE his country sheltered the 9-11 planners.

Beyond this, words fail me in that we lost two more men today to a shooter who is a member of the Afghan military while INSIDE THE FOREIGN MINISTRY BUILDING of all places.

  • Kid

    OUTSTANDING Video.

Does the word Dysfunctional come to mind when thinking about American ‘leadership’ the last 7-8 or 40 years or so for anyone else ? MOST particularly the last 3.

  • Stoneledgeman

This girl qualifies as “the poster girl for birth control!” Scary thing is she and other idiots just like her can vote. UGH

    • Um, Stoneledgeman, to whom do you refer? The rest of us are talking about that nice young lady, Kira Davis.

    • Surfcaster

Did you watch the entire video? I think she qualifies for a lot good. With this video, I think she won the Internet for yesterday.

    • FloridaFlyer

Stoneledgeman, why would you have such disparaging remarks for an obviously intelligent, informed and passionate young lady? I would hope it isn’t directed to her because she is female, young and Black. Actually, I hope she does vote versus being a part of those who are apathetic and could care less. Kudos to her — at least she cares.

  • While the regulars here probably have heard this by now: NATO personnel withdrawn from Afghan ministries after killing of two Americans.

Yep. That’s right. An Afghan “security officer” murdered two Americans; one a Colonel, the other a Major. Shot them in the back of the head while they were in their offices.

I am so OVER this place.

By way of other apologies, I present Too Late To Apologize: A Declaration. Because it really is too late to apologize.

Interview with a VC & MG winner: http://au.news.yahoo.com/sunday-night/video/watch/28428868

Same guy that ripped a Taliban fighter off his back, threw him to the ground, stood on his throat and shot him dead.

    He’s also about 6′ 8″

Two daughters too, good luck to their future boyfriends…

    • Quartermaster

My kinda guy. Your standard hero – humble, self effacing, giving credit where it’s due, and honoring others before himself. The real heros never see themselves as something extra ordinary, just doing their job.

WE, and they, are defending people that aren’t worth the plutonium it would take to blow them to a well deserved perdition.

    • virgil xenophon

Five tours, huh? Just surviving the 5, let alone doing what he did should make him an “Ace.” Helluva world when the guys on the ground are sent (or feel out of a sense of duty that they have to volunteer to do so ) back into the meat-grinder that many times…

  • WESTPAC Spy

My apology would have been reasonably short:

“I am truly sorry that we’ve offended the entire Muslim world by burning Korans that had been defaced by Muslim prisoners in our custody. We did not fully grasp just how sacred each and every copy of the Koran is to the believers. We did not fully grasp this because the prisoners in our custody continually deface the Koran in an attempt to communicate with each other.

We have heard the people of the Muslim world, and your sincere outrage has had a great impact on our thinking. We will mend our ways and vow to work harder to defend the sanctity of each and every Koran in our possession. To fulfill this promise, any prisoner caught defacing a Koran will be summarily executed.”

  • NavyDavy

The commander of our troops, 4 star Allen did apologize, profusely. This is the tax-payers subsidized PBS take on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx-LCoOJDKg&feature=related

The contrast with General Napier in your right hand sidebar is heartbreaking.

Those in leadership positions – I can’t call them leaders – have no confidence in our culture, in Western Civilization.

    C’mon meteors!

    • virgil xenophon

      “C’mon meteors!”

Tsk, tisk. No patience, eh Butch? Not waiting around for the asteroid?

        Meteors, asteroids, whatever it takes.

At this point, I’m hoping the Mayans just didn’t run out of room on their calendar.

Well, of course there IS always “PLANET X.” supposedly approaching from the direction of the southern pole.. :)

Has anyone thought that this was planned, not because of the messages being passed, but as a way to finally release ourselves from the massacre that has become known as Afghanistan?

The statements from the military and the apologies which followed the burning of these books are disingenous, especially considering the calls from the military and political sectors last year when a Florida minister threatened to do the same. How could they not know what they were doing when they complained about someone else doing it last year? Seriously!

The current administration needs a quick and easy “out” and someone, somewhere came up with it. Now, maybe our involvement in such a corrupt, misanthropic, proto-stone age culture can be ended. No more American deaths at the hands of people we went to help.

Americans have been fighting and dying for this country for too long in the middle east. That Afghanistan, whose predominant form of transportation was that of riding animals while Americans were riding rockets to the moon, should receive an apology from anyone here is not only ridiculous, it is embarrassing.

Enough is enough. Let us leave this part of the world to their own destruction. If we want to go to a land of rocks and stone, we should aim for the moon or Mars. Religious zealots there do not exist.

Remember the line Sean Connery used in “The Untouchables”? His character, Malone, said, “They pull a knife. You pull a gun.” Well, the next time these idiots pull a gun, we pull a nuke. Game over.

    • Has anyone thought that this was planned, not because of the messages being passed, but as a way to finally release ourselves from the massacre that has become known as Afghanistan?

Tinfoil is not your best look, m’dear. ;) The Obama administration is neither that clever, not that talented. If they want to retreat, they’ll just yell “Run awaaayyyy,” then rabbit.
