So, you know: Breitbart was a happy warrior. Which made those he warred against unhappy. Thus the hate, which of course he earned. By being happy.
Somewhere in my archives, which I’m still having trouble accessing, is a collection of “liberal” commentary on Tony Snow’s death that I caught as word came in that he’d succumbed to his cancer [update: found here. Thanks to golem14]. The outpouring of hate then was just as atrocious as the commentary aimed at Breitbart this past week, complete, in the aftermath, with requisite and self-serving rationalizations the left used in that instance to justify the most vile and vicious utterances they could attach to their ironic internet handles.
Tony Snow was a chipper guy who smiled more than he frowned and he rarely if ever said anything bad about anyone. He was a grown up even when he disagreed. He was poised and civil. His style was to listen to the other side and then responded in a friendly way. When he opposed something he was polite and informed. He avoided viciousness. He was not a finger wagger. He went out of his way to be nice and see the best in people, even those he disagreed with.
He was not a possessed frantic ideologue. He was not boisterous or confrontational. He just reported the news with a smile on his face and did guest hosting on Rush Limbaugh, and was eventually Whitehouse press secretary for a while.
For the most part, he was positive, warm, open, and friendly and he played it nice and classy when others were reduced to breathing fire, banging shoes, and waving sabers.
When Tony Snow died of cancer the left celebrated just as they did with Breitbart. Being nice changed nothing. They still hated him.
It’s not about the style. It’s about the hate.

The left is about one thing, hate. Everything else is mere detail.
And the Devil is in the detail(s).
Precisely. And both they and their moderate water-carriers act all surprised and offended when we hate them back.
The hypocrisy of these people is beyond the pale. They call for civil discourse, to set aside partisan perspectives, to work collaboratively.
Then they spew this kind of hate and ugliness. I’m not shocked unfortunately; just continue to be disgusted by them.
“They call for civil discourse, to set aside partisan perspectives, to work collaboratively.”
As long we collaborate with them for regressive objectives. heaven forfend they collaborate with us to increase liberty. That would involve taking responsibility for yourself, and we can’t have that. After all, we are life’s victims and you just can’t blame the victim.
You know how the left rolls – they are the first one’s to stand and scream that the top of their lungs about “social” justice and expect everyone to bow down and pay respect when one of their “icons” passes away… but when it’s a conservative, they are the ones that are full of venom and vitriol… they did it when Tony Snow passed away (and he was easy on his “friends” in the press) and they are at it again over Andrew’s death.
The problem with them is that Tony and Andrew scared the Hell out of them – they saw the truth that the left refuses to acknowledge
“They call for civil discourse, to set aside partisan perspectives, to work collaboratively.”
That’s because their definition of collaboration and civility is, for the rest of us, synonymous with capitulation. Do exactly what they want or you aren’t collaborating.
Sorry about the incomplete/double post. I’m not yet fully functioning this AM.

And of course the left fears and loathes Palin for exactly the same reasons, hence all the unceasing vituperation and vitriol lofted her way. Breitbart’s “Big Hollywood” has an article out today making that point in John Nolte’s review of the sliming of Palin in the new move about her: “Game Change.”
Any student of semantics can tell you that when a culture misuses words, blurs their meanings, then the word ceases to have any meaning. When the left calls support for marriage as being between a man and a woman “hate speech” – or the idea that employers shouldn’t have to pay for contraceptives and services freely available, often at no cost “hate speech”- or the idea that our national sovereignty is tied to defending our borders by enforcing laws “hate speech”, they have totally lost the meaning of the word “hate”, and are simultaneously incapable of properly using it while also failing to recognize it in their own speech.
Interesting anecdote – young “gamer” was busy on the Amazon review pages giving his “review” of a book(Book of Man) he had not – by admission – read. He saw an interview with Bennett, and that was all he needed. He could not differentiate between a “review” and a “comment”, and the fact that these pages were for “reviews” and not for “comments” was lost on him. Kinda like folks that can’t identify “hate” correctly.
I’m really glad that you brought up Tony Snow, Lex. Tony Snow has to have been one of the most difficult-to-dislike, much less hate, people involved in political commentary, in memory. Polite always, with a smile in his voice and on his face. He stood in for Rush a lot and was double outstanding in that role as he was in everything else he did. That the Left could and did spew hate at the time of his death says just about all you have to know about the mindset that infects the Left.
I miss Tony Snow, too. What a nice, mannered, and gentle man.
Tony Snow was a gracious, wonderful man. A good man. He even got along with Helen Whatshername. Thomas, that’s it. Always have trouble remembering the names of folks I dislike.

MM:
“Always have trouble remembering the names of folks I dislike.”
Yep, that’s one of the reasons I never use the name of that communist at 1600 Penn. Ave.

There is a lot of hate there, but I’m usually more inclined to say it’s the Hypocrisy that can’t be cut with a chain saw.
The progessives hated both Snow and Breibart, for refusing to submit to the bullying that is constantly applied to any conservative who has the unmitigated audacity to speak their mind while in the spotlight.
Andrew Breitbart acknowledged their attacks, and had great fun “re-tweeting” them. He didn’t respond to their attacks in the same manner as Tony Snow, prefering to meet their hostility directly, returning fire with fire, I guess. But I miss them both…
Liberals are scum. Pure and simple. They choose and indeed insist on living in a make believe world that they create, and they get screaming pissed when the real world does not dovetail with their insane fictional version of it. One cannot reason with someone like that. I long since learned not to try because like when one washes a pig, you really don’t accomplish anything. I just started trying to make the liberal or liberals that I had the misfortune to be stuck associating with have strokes as quickly as possible. And I am deadly serious about that. People that unstable are potentially dangerous and must be taken out. They are a threat to be watched and taken very seriously, as demonstrated in all these incidents where libtards go batshit crazy and shoot places up, or toss stuff at people they disagree with. Brietbart sort of did that too, by hitting the libtards with inconvenient facts that they could not process because of their mental shortcomings. Long live Breitbart!
