How to Tell if You’re SpendingToo Much Time on the Flight Deck…..

Although some might say that this particular thread says it all, I actually found this even a little more worrisome.

I like to alternate some of the aircraft pictures Lex has posted on my desktop – for the last little while its been the picture of the cockpit . And I must admit that I find the Start ‘em Up wav Nose posted very cool. So its on my desktop too, actually right on the flightdeck in the picture. My youngest, age 10,  is always interested and asking questions about what I’m reading and what strange things I do to amuse myself. So she’s fairly well acquainted with the idea of Lex’s blog and the Flight Deck. She heard the Start ‘em Up wave one day and was full of questions. So I explained it to her the best I could.

This kid has a bit of reputation for leaving all manner of things in her jeans pockets resulting in some very interesting creations when I wash clothes. The other day I was about to put some clothes in the washer and joking around, I hollered upstairs “K, did you check your pockets for FOD?” Without missing a beat, she yelled back “Yes, mom. They’re fine.” I don’t know about you, but I find that SCARY!

I love that girl and wonder if she would be interested in meeting my 10yo son.

Nose, I let her read my post Then your comment. She responded “10 years old? Sure.” LOL
Thing is she prefers hanging out with boys, most of her friends are boys. Some day I will have to tell you guys the CIA story – its where she said she wants to work. Took a long time to convince her that she couldn’t because you have to be American to work there. She really didn’t want to settle for CSIS.

Michelle, I’m pretty sure that the CIA has plenty of fuzzy little foreigners working for them.

Nothing scary about it – pretty darn cute! If you’re not careful you’re going to raise a pilot… you could do worse I guess. Pilots aren’t so bad as long as they’re willing to take instruction.

Nose, not so sure we should make her aware of the CIA’s foriegn interests. Although, I have to say, when I was her age if I had been exposed to the type of media she has, I too would have wanted to take the same career path. And given that I have been known to be just a tad stubborn when I set a goal for myself……..I might just have done it!
Steve, pilots………..well, I would rather have my baby grow up to a pilot than a cowboy LOL Her uncle pilots a bug smasher so I think it might be in the blood somewhat. Strange thing is though how, even though I’ve always had an interest in learning to fly, myself, I am now finding the whole topic becoming somewhat of an obsessive interest. Hanging out with the wrong crowd, I suppose…… :)

You should seriously consider showing her fighterchicks.com.
If I were a young girl with the world in front of me I would find it to be waaay cool.

Hey Michelle,

You said “I would rather have my baby grow up to a pilot than a cowboy.”

You know the old joke about growing up and becoming a pilot?

You can’t do both.

Fighterchicks rock. So do girls with guns. Maybe Lex will post some “motivational” photos…

LOL Nope, hadn’t heard that one. Will have to remember to pass it on my brother.
“Motivational” photos, huh? That’s a nice idea except……..well….. they would have to be ones I would actually WANT my 10 year old daughter to see, as in ones Lex would actually want (who’s his youngest?) Kat (?) to see……..if you know what I mean……. Unless of course, what you were actually meaning was “motivational” for you guys. In which case, we would be back to woman. With guns. Right?

Oops, sorry. I was talking about motivating ME. I’m sure you daughter is the perfect little girl, but please remember – it’s all about ME!!

Perfect spitfire maybe. Which might just make her a good fighter pilot. She liked the idea.
And to think that I thought YOU were already motivated enough. What with all those pictures Lex has previously posted. I mean, one would think too much of that kind of motivation just couldn’t be a good thing…

Hey Nose
Just thought I would let you know…….not quite sure what to make of this but ever since this little conversation we had the other day, every once in a while, my daughter has taken to giving me one of those “knowing” look and stating “Nose knows….”
Maybe its those moonbats……
