We had French escorts a few times. After coming close to having two collisions in blue water they finally figured out that change of course commands needed to be made in English! Ruh-Roh! :-o When I was working corporate boats out of St Thomas years back we had a little 98' French flag motor-sailer docked inside of us. Became great friends. They could cook up a storm and I lent them our heads. Fresh water, soap, and all! yee-haw! They didn't understand how we got 100% of our pay when they only got 18% of theirs. After a few months with us they figured out that socialism wasn't what they thought it was! Some really great folks. That whole crew even showed up at my door in S FL one Christmas. Now that was a party! Some things the French just really know how to do well. Getting neekid everytime they left port was not one of them! ;-) Great story Skip. We had French escorts a few times. Seemed like a pretty small ship to me. I discovered later that rather than roll the lens (like we do) to change hook-to-ramp, they actually crank it up and down vertically. And you're right - I'd have given good money to fly the "last of the gunfighters."
