Oops!
A pilot landing at DeLand Municpal Airport Wednesday forgot to do just one thing: lower the wheels on his plane.
Now, how do you suppose that happened?
Nose once told me that you don’t have to be a good pilot to fly inverted. Only if you want to do it again! I believe him.
Let’s see, 74 years old, distracted by skydivers in the air and a Skydive DeLand plane that landed ahead of him.  Good thing Lex wasn’t in the vicinity with any of his foreign women with rifles at the time…
Hmmm, I think I will stick with The Flight Deck pilots for now. At least they’re not quite that old !
Yet!
Update: I am quietly searching for a new home now. Due to the possibility that The Flight Deck might not be safe environs for me for too much longer!

You trying to hijack my post or something?
Actually I think I get the point … you like girls. Period. At least, most types!
BTW only one of the links work, just the first one of the foreign women with rifles. Too bad, I really prefer women who fly inverted, personally. I mean I think do, depending on what the video actually is I suppose…

No hijack intended.
Sorry about the bad links – inclusion of the comma separator was bad.
The female aviator is Svetlana Kapanina, a Russkette that can flay with the best of them. She flies Sukhoi 26, 29 & 31 aerobatic a/c.

There are them’s that have and them’s that will – only grace and fortune separate the two…

unkawill, given my last comment in the post above concerning *ahem* aging aviators, I thought it might get a little hot around here, is all.
But then again, me being me, its highly unlikely I could ever leave quietly

No worries, I think, Michelle. These guys wouldn’t be who they are if they couldn’t take a little bit of ribbing.
Or a LOT! Just the nature of Naval Aviators, I think. A sturdy breed. Tougher than most, from my experience.

Michelle,
As P-3W alludes, the more crap you give Naval Aviators (or ex-Naval Aviators) the more they like you. We’re weird that way. And every pilot has a story about almost landing with the gear up, or about some other plumber who DID land with the gear up. A classic nightmare scenario– you’ll never live it down. A standard joke back in the day was, ‘how does a Marine F-4 pilot know he’s landed with the gear up? He has to go to afterburner to taxi.’

SBill, I fixed your links.
Waaah, I wanna do that! Always wanted to get a private pilot’s license. Maybe someday…
Good to know they’re a tough breed.
Actually, I already knew that. Just wasn’t sure how age sensitive they might be!

Granted, I don’t have my pilots license, and in general, I hate flying… but, I think I might like it better if I was the one behind the controls. It’s a control thing for me. I drove truck over the road for seven years and trained newbees for 2 of that seven. Part of the reason I didn’t stay a trainer was that I couldn’t ever get any sleep. I just didn’t trust the new guys (or anyone else for that matter) to keep me alive. Heck, I made great money training… over 60k/year. But, as they say, the money’s no good to you if’n your dead.
