Last OCS Class for Pensacola
Over the years most of us have seen our ships, aircraft, squadrons, and bases closed, disestablished, replaced, or even sunk but this comes as a surprise.

I was in one of the last DCO School classes to go through Pensacola in 2006. I remember sitting in one of the classrooms knowing that it was one of the same rooms my father used when he was in flight school in 1965.

Ah AOCS. I still remember the “Whump” that Steger’s head made when it hit the desk when he fell asleep in Aerodynamics class. We had been up all night prepping for an RLP (Room, Locker, and Personnel inspection) and he just couldn’t stay awake.
Steve, were you in the class when GYSGT Jones, USMC piled our rifles in the rose garden and “cleaned them” with the garden hose while we made mud puddles?
Hop and Pops, get ‘em girls.

I think I missed the garden party but I do remember Jones smearing his inspection glove all over the bottom of a rusty locker and claiming it came off my rifle. Hancock made it clear to the DI’s that his class was not to get liberty!
