In The Eye of the Beholder

tower250.jpg
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Question is … Would you want this in your eye?
The designer swears he was inspired by a flower. Others think something else might have been at work.

And in Sandy Eggo of all places?
Who’d have thunk it??

Question is … Would you want this in your eye?

I can say with all certainty that I would not appreciate it anywhere near my face.

Not that there is anything…etc.

I don’t believe I follow you, Mich. Whatever can you mean?

Here we go again — this is a deal?

Given the lot they had, and given the number of people or businesses that needed keeping, what would it have looked like otherwise?

Guess they cudda tunneled downward.

Freudian comparisons aside, the proposal doesn’t fit into the surrounding area. What happened to architecture that had grace, beauty, and some connection to its’ locale? I’m going back to my bunker, now. Thank you, Michelle, for providing the link.

I agree with Deborah – architects need to remember their surroundings and stop trying to build their own personal “Guggenheim Museum” legacy.

Kris, from the article I got the sense that that’s exactly what this guy was up to…. building his own personal “unique” legacy.

I grant you that structure is ugly and I would resit it being built in my neighborhod, however I’m not stricken by the “organic” symbolism. My first impression was the bldg was a bit minaret-like, iffn you ask me.

I’ve seen a lot of flowers that looked like one thing or other……it ain’t the ugliest building I ever saw, or the purtiest. I don’t like buildings, anyway! d

Perhaps if they added a fountain on the roof… nah.
