My car

I drive a MINI Cooper now, but when I was in high school and college, I had the greatest car ever.  It was a 1969 AMC Ambassador Station Wagon.  The thing was HUGE.  The hood was just a hair under 6 feet long, and it had a wheelbase just over 10 feet.  It probably got less than 10 miles to the gallon, but gas was less than a buck a gallon then.

But this blog is about the military and aviation (mostly), right?  Why did I bring up a car?

Because it looked like this.

Ready for take-off, huh?

I had an AMC once, a little one, forget what the model was now. There was a piece of junk if there ever was one! Couldn’t drive it if there was the slightest hint of mist in the air because it would either stall or simply not start. And forget going near puddles!

My boyfriend and I painted it one day. Now that was amusing!
Best thing that ever happened was the day it got totalled because another vehicle went through a Stop sign. The book value was more than I ever could have sold it for ;-)

Guy I was XO for loved AMC cars. He had a Gremlin and he had their version of a sports car-I forget what it was called but it was beautiful when he got done restoring it.

Yea , that was it. It was beautiful car-he given it a very shiny blue paint job and redone the engine so that it purred-rather loudly.

Ol’ VP-23! I bet it worked pretty well on the snowy streets of Brunswick and Topsham!
