Born in Tennessee.  Raised in the Old Dominion.  Moved to Texas.  In some ways imitating Sam Houston who was born in VA, went to TN, and then TX, etc.   But he did a little more for either state than I have.

I own a Small Business as defined by the SBA.  We make parts (primarily machined metal) for a variety of larger manufacturers – most of them Defense Contractors.

Spent 30 years selling technology to all comers but mostly the Federal Government.  Steadily rose in the ranks of various computer networking companies until my first experience with a bubble in the economy with the Internet meltdown.  The 90′s were great for business but I realize now it was just a big Ponzi scheme.  Seeing the “late unpleasntness” that is splashed across the paper daily and I get a sense of Deja Vu all over again as Yogi said.

Left it all behind in 2006 to move to Texas to buy a business.  You know American Dream and all that.    Left behind a divorce and moved close to my Daughter and her Husband.  Dream is alive but the lamp flickers a lot dimmer than it did when I first headed west.

Why am I here?  Well I found out about Lex from a link on a Web Site that was talking about safety issues in Formation Flying.  The link was his Worst Day Ever story and I forget the lesson on formation flying but remember crying right along with him as he sat in the cockpit on that fateful day.

I feel blessed to live in this country and am in awe of what the men and women of our Military do every day for us.  I hope to make a difference somehow in helping the rest of us “get it”.

I’ve not much to add to many of the ideas discussed here as I have no experiences to share that are relevent.  But I love history and attempt to stay educated as that is the best way to not repeat the mistakes of the past.

Came for a story and stayed for the writing.  Hope to add something even if only my heartfelt gratitude to be in the precence of so few who have done so much for so many.

Did I mention I like Churchill?
