Lest We Forget

We had no right to win, but we did.
My wife and I will be dining-out with 250 of our close personal friends, this Saturday. A dozen or so Batttle of  Midway Vets will serve as Guests-of-Honor.
I hope you all get out to do the same.

MILBLOG over, over there…

My first contribution to the Flight Deck. I didn’t see any reference to this in the archives here, so hopefully it’s an interesting surprise to you as well. I heard about this story listening to The World’s Tech Podcast on the train today. A gent in England has been posting his grandfather’s [...]

Stunning photographs from around the country in beautiful, rich color. Portraits, landscapes, military, the works. Take a look! A sample…

Of Fire, Ice and Guts: This Date in Naval History - 3 Jan 44

One ship. One crew far from the frontline of the war.  They and their rescuers would be tested by fire and ice.

One man who had fought against the odds with a vision of what could be.  That vision would be tested today in the most hellish of conditions.
It all happened sixty-three years ago today off the [...]

Origins

Forwarded immediately, by me:
Subject: The origins of Conservatism and Liberalism
How It All Began

Humans existed as members of small bands of nomadic Hunter/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer & would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in winter.

The 2 most important events in all [...]

“Air Raid Pearl Harbor. This Is Not A Drill”

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.  A special Flightdeck Friday.  Read, and hear, more…
