The road to integrity takes the following path to: “Trustworthy Turnpike”, “Honesty Road”, “Integrity Lane”, and finally to “Responsibility Road”.

I’m an Apple-phile, so no ordinary mp3 player would do. I have the 4GB (Product)red version, so I can listen to my music and my social conscience is clear. Or something like that. Anyway, at last count I have a measly, compared to my siblings, 572 songs on it, leaving around 1.35GB (give or take) available. I use the “shuffle songs” feature almost exclusively as I listen to it on my walk to and from the train station on work days. I work in downtown Chicago, and on most days as I head east from the station and toward the lake I walk along with the same gaggle of other commuters as they head off to wherever they’re going, most with their own headphones on. The thought does cross my mind as to what they’re listening to as I slowly destroy my hearing with my own music. 

Today was an especially eclectic day, music-wise. So for most of my commute this morning, I heard the following songs, in this order:

  • Back in the U.S.S.R., The Beatles, The White Album

  • The Tale of Dusty & Pistol Pete, Smashing Pumpkins, Adore
  • Numb, U2, Zooropa
  • Lithium, Nirvana, Nevermind
  • Level, The Raconteurs, Broken Boy Soldiers
  • Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash

  • I’m Shipping up to Boston, Dropkick Murphys, Soundtrack from the movie “The Departed”
