Neptunus Lex is a free site, not a pay site. All people of good will are welcome, regardless of whether they contribute monetary donations, commentary or page views.
But we’ve created a neat little community here, and keeping the plates spinning – while maintaining standards – is a non-trivial effort. And, of course, there are direct costs involved in maintaining a private server to host the site.
Over the course of the years, I have been the grateful recipient of many generous donations – For the Effort! – and any occasional reader who prefers is welcome to continue to support the site and community by that method.
For others looking to provide recurrent support more conveniently, a subscription service via PayPal is now being offered.
The monthly subscription is most the generous at $6 per period, and is roughly equivalent to a magazine subscription. The semi-annual is least expensive at $6 per half year. The subscription cost is fixed rather than amortized because of PayPal’s cost structure – for each donation received, PayPal charges 2.9% plus 30 cents.
In 2009, we averaged a little over 130 posts per month, so a monthly subscription is basically 5¢ per post, while the six-month subscription adds up to not quite a penny. It’s over to you to determine whether these our efforts are quite worth that.
